NOTE: Installation of a home charger in the 8 to 10kW range typically requires a 50A breaker to be installed in your electrical panel.

Home chargers below 8kW are recommended for current and future owners of PHEVs and EVs with “standard” Level 2 charging capability (3kW to 8kW). They are also a good choice for current and future owners of vehicles with high power Level 2 onboard charging capability (More than 10kW), who can only fit a breaker rated at 40A or less in their electrical panel.

NOTE: Installation of a home charger up to 8kW typically requires a 40A breaker to be installed in your electrical panel to achieve full power. Use of a smaller breaker is possible with some chargers but it will require a power limiting setting to be activated in the charging station.
